Nothing Will Stop Inter Now

inter roma Nothing Will Stop Inter Now Much like the title race in Spain, Italy’s Serie A season has gone down to the last game of the season before producing the league winners. Inter Milan are two points ahead of Roma at the top of the league and a win against Siena on Sunday night will see Mourinho’s men retain the Scudetto for another year.

Although Mourinho’s future is in doubt as reports linking him with the hot seat at Real Madrid grow ever stronger, one thing that isn’t in doubt is the result of this match. Siena has already been guaranteed relegation to Serie B after conceding the most goals (66) this season. A huge ten points from safety, the Bianconeri have only won once in their last 11 matches.
Inter Milan are on the cusp of wrapping up an historic treble winning season with the Coppa d’Italia already wrapped up, a win on Sunday seals Serie A, then next Saturday they can claim the Champions League with victory over Bayern Munich in Madrid.

Roma are now clutching at straws. Earlier this week Mourinho stirred things up when he commented that Roma would pay Siena to see off his side and give them the title. In an interview he said: “If it’s true that the president of Siena is happy to beat us and has promised the same prize to his players that he would have given them if they had stayed up, they’ll have extra motivation. And who knows, Roma… might offer some extra money.”

All the money in the world couldn’t buy a Siena win on Sunday and even if Inter don’t have playmaker Sneijder available, they will still have enough options available to pick apart Siena. Bad boy Mario Balotelli is 3.50 to score the first goal.

Back Inter Milan to secure another Scudetto victory with a comprehensive 3-0 win against Siena available at 6.50 with PartyBets.com.

Inter deny Benitez ‘contact’

Internazionale officials have issued a statement denying any interest in Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez as the under-fire Spaniard’s future remains shrouded in doubt at Anfield (1/12 Internazionale – Serie A outright).

Why the Italian giants would want to swap the self-titled ‘Special One’ for Benitez remains to be seen, but the Italian media have claimed a deal could be on the cards if Jose Mourinho decides to move on.

Real Madrid are said to be sniffing around and should Mourinho fancy a new challenge then Inter could turn to Benitez, who may be ready to walk away from Anfield following a shocking season.

Seventh in the Premier League is nowhere near good enough for the Reds and Benitez may decide to head for the continent rather than wait to be sacked. Juventus are also keen and it looks as though Benitez does have plenty of admirers abroad.

Inter are playing down the rumours though. They are busy preparing for the Champions League final against Bayern Munich (8/15 – Champions League outright) later this month and clearly do not want any distractions.

A statement from Inter read: “With regards to what has been reported by several Italian media, FC Internazionale underlines that absolutely no contact has been made with coaches – of other clubs or national teams – given that the club has a contract with Jose Mourinho until 2012, and that everybody is focused exclusively on the team’s important upcoming commitments.”

Inter are closing in on another Serie A title with just one game remaining and if he does leave the San Siro then there are doubts over whether Benitez can fill his boots.

Punters are not fancying Liverpool one bit again next season and the Reds are 10/1 to win the Premier League title, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all fancied more.

Benitez could be on the move in the summer but his chances of landing the Inter job if it becomes available are surely slim.

Juve may be more appropriate and would give him the chance to get away from England where his time appears to be up.

Even the Liverpool fans are starting to turn on him and how they would love to send him packing to Italy in exchange for Mourinho, who would be the man to bring the glory days back to Anfield.

Jose coy on Inter future

Jose MourinhoJose Mourinho is remaining tight-lipped over his Inter Milan future after again admitting he wants to return to manage in England at some point (Inter 8/15 to win Champions League).

The former Chelsea coach has a fractious relationship with the Italian media and that has led to plenty of speculation over his future, with suggestions he will quit at the end of the season.

He has always maintained he wants to return to England at some point and has been linked with taking over at Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City in the past, but now the Portuguese admits he could stay on at the San Siro.

“This is a team that in any case, whoever guides it, will do well,” he said.

“Are there any possibilities that I remain? Yes.”

Mourinho, who has guided Inter to the Italian Cup and could yet complete an amazing treble this season with the Champions League and Serie A title (Inter 1/14 to win Serie A) within his grasp, has made no secret of the fact he is keen to return to the Premier League where he enjoyed such success at Chelsea between 2004 and 2007.

He had been tipped to return this summer but he has now hinted that it could be delayed.

“I lived there (in England) three years and I know I will return for sure – when? Nobody knows,” he added.

“Will it be next season? I don’t think so, but for sure I will be back in England.”

Mourinho’s side are on the verge of the Italian title as they lead second-placed Roma by two points with just two games to go, while they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League final on May 22 and it appears the 47-year-old would prefer domestic glory to more European success.

“With regards to the scudetto, we will do our duty until the end,” he said.

“As I have said many times for us the Champions League should be a dream, not an obsession.”

Can Inter Milan win Coppa D’italia, Serie A + Champions League treble?

post thumbnail

samuel Etoo Inter Milan Can Inter Milan win Coppa Ditalia, Serie A + Champions League treble?Roma and Inter will take a timeout from their fierce battle for the Scudetto, to try and bring the Coppa D’italia home to their fans.

An historic treble is well and truly on for Inter Milan this season and Wednesday night sees the acid test as they attempt to lift the first of a trio of titles they can win this season along with Serie A and the Champions League.

You can bet on this outcome: Inter Milan to win Coppa D’italia, Serie A + Champions League treble

Inter have not been able to achieve the treble so far in their history and have won the Coppa Italia on only five occasions. The last time they won the cup was in the 2005-06 campaign when they beat Roma 4-2 on aggregate in the final.

Roma have won the Coppa Italia nine times and, alongside Juventus are the most successful side in the history of Serie A. This week the Giallorossi have a good chance of pushing themselves ahead of the Bianconeri by claiming the trophy for a 10th time.

Inter Milan will be without Brazilian defender Lucio through injury, whereas Wesley Sneijder and Pandev are also set to miss the final due to injuries they are yet to recover from.

  • Back Inter Milan to win 1-0 at 6.50 with PartyBets.com.

John Arne Riise and Mirko Vucinic are currently struggling with minor injuries but they should be fit to play the final. Coach Claudio Ranieri will probably start Luca Toni on the bench whilst playing Francesco Totti as the lone striker.

It promises to be an entertaining match, with both sides still in the running for the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia final will be a highly charged affair. Roma may feel a home advantage as the final is at the Stadio Olimpico but Inter know how to push out results as demonstrated against Barcelona. If Inter Milan can score the first goal tonight, then they may well win their first trophy of the season.

Moratti lauds “fantastic” Inter

Jose MourinhoInter Milan president Massimo Moratti admits boss Jose Mourinho has proved him wrong by taking a side reduced to 10 men through to the Champions League final (Inter 8/15 Outright).

The Serie A giants will contest the showpiece with German side Bayern Munich at the home of Real Madrid, the Santiago Bernabeu, on Saturday May 22 (Bayern Munich 9/4, draw 9/4, Inter Milan evens – 90 Minutes) after overcoming holders Barcelona in the semi-finals.

Inter went down 1-0 on Wednesday night at the Nou Camp thanks to Gerard Pique’s composed late strike, having had midfielder Thiago Motta harshly sent off following a tangle with the theatrical Sergio Busquets.

But Mourinho’s men dug in and mounted a tremendous rearguard action to stifle Barca superstars Lionel Messi and Xavi, and in the process go through 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a 3-1 first-leg victory in Italy the week before.

And Moratti has revealed that he actually discussed the issue of a red card in Europe with former Chelsea boss Mourinho earlier in the campaign.

“Not long ago I told Mourinho that I believed that it would be impossible to play down to 10 players and progress in a Champions League game,” Moratti told Inter Milan’s website.

“But instead, it is possible and that is thanks to great character and a fantastic team that Inter has proved to be.

“We played with 10, against the world champions and in their stadium. Yet the players knew what to do in every episode, playing with intelligence.

“I have to compliment everyone because this achievement gives me infinite happiness.”

Inter’s progression at the expense of Barcelona did nothing to help Mourinho’s relationship with the fans of a club he served as a translator and assistant boss between 1996 and 2000.

And the Portuguese, who also dumped the Catalans out of Europe during his time with Chelsea, admits he will never return to take the top job at the Nou Camp despite the fact he plans to coach for “23 more years”.

The 47-year-old said: “I’m not stupid enough to think that this hate can be turned into love.

“I respect Barca and I’ll never forget what the club gave me in the four years I was here, but something has been created around me that is hard to make positive.

“It is clear that I will end my career without having coached Barca.”

On the night Barcelona saw a second goal chalked off for handball earlier in a move finished by Bojan Krkic, a strike which would probably have sent them through on away goals.

But afterwards boss Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Inter’s defence and called his own side’s European campaign a “success”.

He said: “I know we’re Barca but when nine players are defending inside the opposition box it’s not easy.

“Sometimes attacking seems a lot harder than defending. We tried, but they defended well.

“We won’t be looking for excuses. Every player, every coach and every team plays how they want to and it’s not for me to judge.”

Inter ’s Mourinho Proves to be the Special One Again

Inter coach Mourinho training2 199x300 Inter s Mourinho Proves to be the Special One Again“They have played their style of football. We have not been as effective as in other games. The pitch was quite fast and we tried on the wings and through the middle. Our opponent has not made it easy for us.” – Pep Guardiola

The Nerazzurri produced a fine first-leg display as they came from behind to beat holders Barcelona and take control of this Champions League semi-final.

Once again Jose Mourinho got his tactics spot on when it really matters, and Pep Guardiola and Barcelona know this. The question is; can Barcelona now salvage the tie and retain their Champions League crown which is hanging by a thread?

Inter allowed Barcelona the ball where they couldn’t hurt them, then picked the right moments to press and harass Barca before launching lightning-fast counter attacks. It was a perfect ‘team’ display by the Nerazzurri who collectively to a man executed Mourinho’s game plan to perfection.

Jose Mourinho and Inter know that there is still a long hard battle awaiting them in the second leg at Camp Nou next week. They will also know that scoring an away goal will mean that Barcelona will have it all to do as they will have to find a way past their rock solid defence at least three times – but with Messi on form that is possible!

Inter Milan are now favourites to qualify for the final at 1.70, with Barcelona facing an uphill task they are 2.05 to make it to the final at the Bernabau stadium next month.

Roma Stay Top After Derby Win Over Mourinho’s Inter Milan

inter roma Roma Stay Top After Derby Win Over Mourinhos Inter MilanRoma made it six wins on the spin as they squeezed past Lazio in a fiercely contested local derby.

A Mirko Vucinic double was enough to seal victory for the league leaders, who remain one point ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan.

Struggling Lazio shocked their local rivals by taking a 14th minute lead when Tommaso Rocchi neatly slotted home after latching onto the end of 40-yard through ball from teammate Cristian Ledesma.

Lazio had the better of the chances in the first half and felt that they deserved a penalty after Rocchi’s surge into the area was halted by Nicolas Burdisso’s challenge.

Roma manager Claudio Ranieri made two half time changes to help force a way back into the game, but only one minute after the break Lazio were awarded a penalty.

Lazio’s Aleksander Kolarov brought down Marco Cassetti inside the box, but Sergio Floccari couldn’t take advantage, striking his shot straight at Roma keeper Julio Sergio.

Roma were then award a 53rd minute penalty themselves following a clumsy challenge from Kolarov on Roma’s Rodrigo Taddei.

Mirko Vucinic made no mistake from the spot and Roma looked resurgent as the mounted a string of attacks on the Lazio goal.

Vucinic soon made it two as he unleashed an unstoppable 20-yard free-kick towards the Roma net, leaving Fernando Muslera stranded.

Lazio pressed for an equaliser through efforts by Mauro Zarate and Rocchi, but couldn’t beat Julio Sergio in the Roma goal.

The home side then had Cristian Ledesma sent off in the final moments of a frustrating evening for Lazio, who now sit 16th in the table – just three points above the relegation zone.

Inter Milan v Barcelona Champions League Semi Final

samuel Etoo Inter Milan Inter Milan v Barcelona Champions League Semi FinalThe Nerazzurri host Barca at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Tuesday night.

It’s a tie that captures the imagination as both teams consist of some of the world’s best players and both boast two of the best and most dapper managers in Europe in the form of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.

Both managers already have winner’s medals in this competition already, Mourinho as coach of Porto in 2004, and Guardiola from last year. It is likely one of them will make it two medals this year as the winner of this semi-final will undoubtedly be favourites against either Bayern Munich or Lyon in the final.

A nice sub-plot to this fixture will be the matchup between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto’o. Barcelona and Inter Milan agreed an incredible deal in the summer which saw Ibrahimovic join Barcelona for 46 million euros plus Samuel Eto’o in exchange. That deal raised many eyebrows as some would consider Eto’o to be the better striker of the two alone.

Eto’o seems to be fired up for this clash and has been speaking to the press about his desire to put one over on his former team mates.
“We all dream of beating Barcelona, and if I score at the San Siro then I will celebrate it”, he is quoting as saying to the press.

Samuel Eto’o is 7.00 to score the first goal on Tuesday with Ibrahimovic’s odds being slightly shorter at 6.00 for the opening goal.

Both sides are having to fight hard on the domestic front with Barcelona being held to a goaless draw by city rivals Espanyol on Saturday night and Inter Milan sitting a point behind Roma who went top after a 2-1 win over Lazio on Sunday. Inter will have had an extra day’s rest over Barcelona which may give them an advantage as a long season reaches its climax with massive games coming thick and fast for both sides.

This fixture was played out earlier in the competition as both sides were drawn in the same group. The game at the San Siro ended 0-0 with both defences managing to nullify the opposition attacking threat. A similar outcome is likely this time too, with Barcelona being content to take a draw back to the Nou Camp with them. Back a tight affair to end 1-1 at 6.50 with PartyBets.com.

Inter Milan to Pip Fiorentina to Coppa Italia Final?

Coppa Italia TrophyIt is the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday as Inter Milan travel to Fiorentina with a 1-0 lead.

These two sides were inseparable on Saturday evening as they cancelled each other out to a 2-2 draw. A result which has dented Inter Milans Scudetto chances this season. A repeat of this result would not be enough for Fiorentina as they trail 1-0 on aggregate, so the dynamics of this match will be slightly different from the weekends encounter between the pair.

The Nerazzurri are may well be gunning for revenge after seeing a late goal from the Violas centre back Per Kroldrup secure a 2-2 draw which opened the way for AS Roma to leap them to top of Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Fiorentina are showing good home form now and are unbeaten in their last four games. Jose Mourinho’s men know a draw will be enough for them to book a date in this season’s final and set up a potentially historic season as they continue to be in with a chance of completing the treble which includes the Champions League if they can get past mighty Barcelona in the semis.

A win for Fiorentina will see them keep alive their only chance of silverware this season, and they will take heart from the weekends performance which saw them lead Inter for much of the game.

After playing each other only a few days ago, barring any major changes to the starting elevens on both sides, it is hard not to look at a repeat result once again. A draw will be enough to take Inter through and it is worth backing again with PartyBets.com.

“To keep up this kind of form is very difficult and no one will give out anything to us until the end,” David Pizzaro told Roma Channel “But the important thing was to move top and now it’s all in our hands. We must become aware that we are in first place.”
