Inter Milan add Serie A brace to Coppa Italia

inter win serie a 300x199 Inter Milan add Serie A brace to Coppa ItaliaInter secured their 18th Scudetto at Siena with a 1-0 win courtesy of Diego Milito that sparked the celebrations for the Milan kings as they added the league title to their trophy cabinet to go with the Coppa Italia and possibly the Champions League next week.

The visitors began the day knowing that a win would guarantee them the title, no matter what happened in Verona between Roma and Chievo.

Jose Mourinho saw the return of Wesley Sneijder after being out with injury. Mario Balotelli and Marco Materazzi retained their places in the starting XI after last weekend’s victory against the Flying Donkeys.

The hosts had the first opportunity as a defensive mix-up saw the ball land at the foot of Albin Ekdal in the box, but somehow he ended up going wide despite being in a promising position.

Balotelli almost put the Nerazzurri in the lead at 13 minutes when a long cross missed Thiago Motta’s head and the teenager volleyed wide from close range.

Knowing that they needed a goal, Mourinho’s men were pushing harder as the second-half started and a one-two between Maicon and Balotelli gave the Brazilian the opportunity to break into the area, but at the last second his shot was deflected away.

Milito was running the game and creating plenty of chances but to no avail but the pressure finally showed at 57 minutes. Zanetti yet again made a run through the defence and laid off for Milito, who took a touch and slid the ball past Curci.

Siena almost found a spectacular goal as Inter had their heart in their mouths when Rosi’s whipped in cross-shot just missed the corner as the clock counted down at 83 minutes.

However, the Coppa Italia winners pushed on as Mourinho won his second title in Serie A for the club, coming on top in what was a very close race, just two points ahead of the Giallorossi.
It is an incredible fith straight Serie A title for Inter Milan as Mourinho described it as the toughest league title he has ever won. Now Inter will be hoping to wrap up an historic treble winning season when they face Bayern Munich in Madrid, who have also won their respective league and cup double this season.

Milan Juvenutus Serie A Clash – A Battle of Pride

Inter Milan Scudetto Milan Juvenutus Serie A Clash A Battle of PrideTwo giants of Italian football go head-to-head on Saturday, but both clubs have endured a season to forget.

Milan’s local rivals, Inter, look likely to wrap up the Scudetto on Sunday – which is why this match has been brought forward to Saturday evening, to avoid any clashes on the streets of Milan between the two sets of supporters. The sight of their neighbours winning Serie A once again is bad enough for the Rossoneri, but a sub-par season which has seen their form deteriorate in the latter stages of the season has created an anti-climax.

Juventus will be feeling much the same way as they will be finishing 7th this season regardless of Saturday’s result – and that means no European football next season.

Alberto Zaccheroni, the Juve boss, has admitted the clash will lack importance, but not commitment.

Dummed Down Fixture?

“The match at the San Siro will not be as important as in other years, also because it is the last of the league season,” he suggested to the Italian press.

“[Based] on the allure of competition, it is not a positive situation. This is my advice for next year: Milan – Juve should happen during the peak time of the season.”

However he also stated the desire to win will still be shown on both sides: “It’s true, in terms of rankings, this game means nothing. On the field, however, there are players of great quality.”

“This is the top level of football, it is impossible not to have incentives.”

When these two sides last met in Turin in January, Milan demolished Juve 3-0 with a brace from Ronaldinho.

Recent form is not good for both sides and both have been very inconsistent in the last few games of the season. Last weekend saw both sides slump to defeat against sides lower down in the league.

Milan will be able to do the double over Juve, with players like Pirlo, Pato, and Ronaldinho in the starting eleven they will be capable of scoring goals. Back AC Milan to win 2-0 which is going at 7.00 with PartyBets.com.

Totti saves Roma to take Serie A chase down to final game

Wins for both Roma and Inter Milan on Sunday means the Scudetto will have to be won on the last day of the season.

Inter Milan 4 – Chievo 3

Inter Milan Scudetto Totti saves Roma to take Serie A chase down to final gameThe Serie A leaders conceded a goal after just 12 minutes at home to Chievo when a right wing cross was pushed into his own net by Thiago Motta. Jose Mourinho’s side were behind for no more than a minute when an Eto’o pass into the Chievo box was turned into an own goal by Chievo player Andrea Mantovani.

Just after 30 minutes Inter took the lead, with Esteban Cambiasso scoring. Inter extended their lead in the 39th minute when Diego Milito netted his 21st goal in the league with a chip from 15-yards out. The final result seemed to be a foregone conclusion at the start of the second half after Maicon’s ball over the top was collected by Mario Balotelli who led Inter into a 4-1 lead.

But Chievo managed to put themselves back in the running soon after when Pablo Granoche was able to put one past Julio Cesar. Amazingly Chievo scored again to make the score 4-3 when Zanetti played ball across the backline and Sergio Pellisier nipped in and scored a third for the visitors.

Roma 2 – Cagliari 1

Roma, needed to win to keep alive any chances of claiming the Scudetto, and missed numerous early chances to take the lead against Cagliari, and with under 20 minutes to go the Giallorossi’s were punished when Andrea Lazzari brought home a beauty from a free-kick.

Roma’s woes looked certain after PartyPoker.it ambassador Francesco Totti lifted a chip over the bar from mere yards out, but only minutes later Totti was able to score the leveller and restore hope once again for Raneri’s men. Roma then took the lead to breathe life back into the race for the title, Riise’s cross was cut short by a stray hand and Francesco Totti converted the critical second goal.

This means if Inter Milan win their final game of the season, away to relegated Siena, they will retain the Scudetto – and complete the second part of an historic treble which is looking more and more likely.

Can Inter Milan win Coppa D’italia, Serie A + Champions League treble?

post thumbnail

samuel Etoo Inter Milan Can Inter Milan win Coppa Ditalia, Serie A + Champions League treble?Roma and Inter will take a timeout from their fierce battle for the Scudetto, to try and bring the Coppa D’italia home to their fans.

An historic treble is well and truly on for Inter Milan this season and Wednesday night sees the acid test as they attempt to lift the first of a trio of titles they can win this season along with Serie A and the Champions League.

You can bet on this outcome: Inter Milan to win Coppa D’italia, Serie A + Champions League treble

Inter have not been able to achieve the treble so far in their history and have won the Coppa Italia on only five occasions. The last time they won the cup was in the 2005-06 campaign when they beat Roma 4-2 on aggregate in the final.

Roma have won the Coppa Italia nine times and, alongside Juventus are the most successful side in the history of Serie A. This week the Giallorossi have a good chance of pushing themselves ahead of the Bianconeri by claiming the trophy for a 10th time.

Inter Milan will be without Brazilian defender Lucio through injury, whereas Wesley Sneijder and Pandev are also set to miss the final due to injuries they are yet to recover from.

  • Back Inter Milan to win 1-0 at 6.50 with PartyBets.com.

John Arne Riise and Mirko Vucinic are currently struggling with minor injuries but they should be fit to play the final. Coach Claudio Ranieri will probably start Luca Toni on the bench whilst playing Francesco Totti as the lone striker.

It promises to be an entertaining match, with both sides still in the running for the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia final will be a highly charged affair. Roma may feel a home advantage as the final is at the Stadio Olimpico but Inter know how to push out results as demonstrated against Barcelona. If Inter Milan can score the first goal tonight, then they may well win their first trophy of the season.

Roma face tough Sampdoria Serie A Title Test

Roma De Rossi 226x300 Roma face tough Sampdoria Serie A Title TestIn what is turning out to be an exciting race for this season’s Scudetto, Roma currently leads Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan by just one point at the top of Serie A.

After coming from a goal down at half-time to defeat their fierce city rivals Lazio 2-1 in the ‘Eternal City Derby’ last Sunday Roma (1.45) once again will be playing with the pressure on them against another tough opponent. Sampdoria (7.00) are expected to provide a hard test for their title hopes this weekend as the fourth-placed Doriani are in the thick of the battle for the final Champions League place.

Sampdoria are currently in great form and looking good for a fourth place finish, they are certainly good value at 7.00 to win this match. They have a tremendous talent and former Roma player in their ranks in Antonio Cassano. The hitman has been on target in the last three matches and will pose a real threat on Sunday.

Roma skipper Francesco Totti knows the threat Cassano poses when he told press: “He is a player who can make the difference whenever he wants to. He can do incredible tricks. But let’s hope he leaves them at home on Sunday.”
Antonio Cassano is 10.00 to score the first goal which looks too good value to turn down.

Roma have a good record against Sampdoria though and are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings against the Blucerchiati (5W 4D).

At the Olimpico, Roma are unbeaten against Sampdoria in their last eight games (6W 2D), with the hosts having the better in the last three fixtures without conceding a single goal.

Last Sunday’s win in the derby against Lazio extended Roma’s unbeaten run to 24 league games (18W 6D).

Back a determined Roma to continue their good record against Sampdoria with a win and over 2.5 combined goals scored in the game at 2.20 with PartyBets.com.
